Performance venues are a known scarce resource in Singapore, let alone stages situated within a gargantuan power station. That’s been the trump card of 24OWLS who currently run the lease, and they’ve been selflessly imparting the gift of the Pasir Panjang Power Station to the scene through pop-up events such as The Alex Blake Charlie Sessions, CLANG克浪! and Flock at The Nest. There’s something surreally captivating about wandering through music in a behemothic industrial playground like this, and fortunately for gig-hunters, 24OWLS are giving them a couple more reasons to make the trip.

On 18 October, neo-classical nuances and electronic elements fuse for “sessions.”, a late-night series that turns the architectural relic into a mini festival. Kiasmos – the duo of Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen – headline the lineup with a rousing return to our city, promising their assuasive and atmospheric brand of electronica-meets-IDM. Kiasmos will be supported by a fitting cast of homegrown acts, including ambient composer Kin Leonn, classically-trained Mervin Wong, and the oft-experimental Fauxe. “sessions.” even features an assortment of fringe activities that makes use of the venue’s enormous zones, such as a mystic corner for tarot readings, a literary alcove for nocturnal reading, and dining spaces for refreshments.

Following that, 24OWLS hosts another edition of its Block A signature series that’s brought in past acts like Ricky Montgomery and grentperez. And this time, Block A is bringing down a beloved icon of the indie circuit, Foster The People, for a rare DJ set. Supported by Eatmepoptart’s KiDG, this Foster The People performance commemorates the band’s release of their newest album Paradise State Of Mind, which will have you pulling shapes in your pumped-up kicks.
