WHAT IS

LIFE IN ARPEGGIO?

Life In Arpeggio is a platform for music journalism in Singapore; a digital vehicle to propel stories from the local scene and beyond into the spotlight. From the collectives and clubs pushing electronic soundscapes to the songwriters and instrumentalists who colour the live music topography, there’s a tale to be found in the creative crannies scattered throughout the island. This medium traverses in-depth profile features, music-centric happenings in the city, explorations of trendy spots, and other news that sing the same tune.

What is the Singaporean music scene like? Life In Arpeggio tells its stories.

Life In Arpeggio was dreamt up by Singaporean music journalist, Kevin Ho. Growing up in a household that adored music, Kevin attended his first gig at the age of six, when Pet Shop Boys swung by for their much-acclaimed Discovery Tour. He would then spend his adolescent years chasing gigs and listening to everyone from Badly Drawn Boy to The Chemical Brothers.

Since 2012, he has written and edited music and lifestyle features for a myriad of print and digital publications. These include Honeycombers Singapore where he was Editor, JUICE Singapore where he spearheaded the music section, and other outlets such as Mixmag, MTV, inSing.com, Urban Journey, Female, Hype & Stuff, Other Sounds and The Great Singapore Replay. He has had the privilege of interviewing the likes of Pete Tong, Damian Lazarus, Hardwell, John Talabot, Lily Allen, Loco Dice, Ken Ishii, Basement Jaxx, Disclosure, Ellie Goulding, The Flaming Lips and Johnny Marr. In 2017, he was appointed as a mentor for the Baybeats Budding Writers programme, where he shared his skills with future talents of Singapore’s music journalism scene.

Kevin is also a production geek who makes techno as The Beat Usagi (www.facebook.com/thebeatusagi).
