This piece of news is fresh outta the box, or shall we say, the .KRATE. Over two-and-a-half years after its much-hyped debut, the pop-up club concept known as .KRATE returns with a second wind. Despite enduring the brunt of the pandemic, the .KRATE crew are still standing with renewed vigour, and it shows all over the buzz surrounding its comeback event dubbed .KRATE RE:VIVAL.

The first big deal related to this returning rave is its new venue. The launch of .KRATE first took place in February 2020 in a massive hall at Suntec Convention Centre. Now, this new manifestation of .KRATE takes place in the tech-centric domain of ALICE@MEDIAPOLIS, not far from the site of past big events like Heineken’s Transporter spectacular. Its non-central locale is set to make .KRATE a genuine destination experience, and from what it’s teased so far, partygoers won’t be disappointed. According to Honore Soumet, one of the co-founders of .KRATE, the new space can fit a maximum capacity of 500, and it features 360-degree LED live visuals from Jaymi McManus and top-notch Funktion-One sound from Rebel Decibel Soundsystem. Now just imagine that.

The debut of .KRATE happened just before the pandemic struck a blow to the scene

“Our brand name comes from the idea of creating a new story and something unseen, hence the ‘.’ before KRATE,” shares Honore on the origin of the concept. “Then we derived the word ‘crate’ as we want to put all the party people into another world and transport them for the night.” Honore also shares that the new .KRATE will currently throw gigs bi-monthly, making their pop-ups more coveted in a rejuvenated gig climate that’s becoming more and more stuffed.

While KRATE RE:VIVAL won’t feature an international headliner this time – its ambitious debut brought down Nakadia – it still boasts an impressive lineup of homegrown residents and guests who are all top guns in their own right. On the bill is a back-to-back showcase from Erwin Linden and Taz Angullia (both recently played at Sisyphos in Berlin), Honore who exhibits his musical chops from behind the scenes, as well we James Selva who’s been in hot demand within the local performance circuit lately. Joining them are more familiar faces, including Sivanesh who’s been pumping out house parties under the Sivilian Affairs brand, and Glasses Ben, the new and curious alias of veteran selector, Benedict Teo (FKA Zushan) from Metamo Industries.

New venue. New blood. A new chapter. Just like the contents of Pandora’s Box, expect plenty of mayhem to be unleashed from this .KRATE.
