TIME CAPSULE: The UPLOADING Series Returns For A Two-Day Live Gig At The Esplanade

If you haven’t gotten a load of UPLOADING these last few years, it looks like you might have another shot. Intriguant’s signature series is returning once more for a two-day live event at the Esplanade Annexe Studio on 17 and 18 March 2022. Titled TIME CAPSULE, the comeback event hopes to provide an enduring snapshot of where the music scene’s at today – that it still persists with the spirit of collaboration and experimental endeavours in the face of a perpetual, pandemic-triggered lull.

UPLOADING Presents TIME CAPSULE will feature an eclectic programme of four homegrown acts each night, ranging from singers and rappers to producers and beatmakers. 17 March showcases Geylang Crunk misfits O$P$, electronica icon The Analog Girl, Ice Cream Sundays resident Bongomann and indie-pop newcomer Kitty Purrnaz. While on the 18th, you can expect the rapping vegetable BGourd, jazztronica whiz Fzpz, a tag-team performance between d&b don Kiat and pianist extraordinaire Aya Sekine, and the debut performance of trio Chris, Sam & Lucas (a side project that includes Fauxe). Visuals will also be helmed by Jo Ho and The Super System.

“With the upcoming release of TIME CAPSULE, a compilation that features an array of emergent and established artists and producers who are at the forefront of next-level Singaporean electronic music, we will shine a light on the present and erect the foundation of the future,” the event states on its ticketing website.

UPLOADING was first launched by Intriguant in 2019, as a platform to showcase local producers, beatmakers and other experimental musicians who were willing to bust through the norm. After a string of events that took place in venues like Headquarters and Tuff Club, it released a compilation album of local original offerings featuring the likes of MZA, Halal Sol, Zrina, Cravism and more. UPLOADING’s last event was a collaboration with contemporary performance company, CAKE, for a multi-disciplinary event that fused music, art and theatre at Pasir Panjang Power Station. It occurred in the midst of the pandemic in March 2021.
