15-Min Flash Mix E29: Andre Marc Drops A Sampler Of Ciel Social’s Musical Blueprint
If you’ve been chasing after the fiery trail of pop-up parties that’ve been resurfacing in Singapore, you’ll be familiar with Ciel Social. The party collective has been throwing pop-up parties at scenic locations like Labrador Park and Telok Blangah in recent months, and they are unfiltered in the explorations of their soundtracks. House, techno, progressive and deep – the Ciel Social folks traverse it all.
Representing the crew right now is one of its co-chieftains, Andre Marc, who drops a 15-Min Flash Mix in light of Ciel’s upcoming ruckus. Come 12 November, Ciel collaborates with the newly-launched UNMUTE for a stacked 11-DJ gig (including Fake Tattoos from India) at Turf Club Road, marking one of Ciel’s biggest fiestas yet.
For the 15-Min Flash Mix, Andre Marc has delivered what I’d call a musical kaleidoscope; an intricate web of reflections that intertwine with a spectrum of dance genres. In one direction it flows into a spiritual expanse of progressive house. Turn it in another direction, and you get the accelerating highways of driving techno. It’s a deluge of diversity stuffed into a span of 15 minutes, showing the boundless repertoire of Andre’s craft on the decks.
“In this mix, I wanted to encapsulate the genres that have struck a chord with me over the years. I find myself playing around and having fun with these soundscapes the most – many times amalgamating these genres in my sets,” Andre elaborates on his 15-Min Flash Mix.
