15-Min Flash Mix E40: Vix Delivers A Taste Of The Techno Vanguard Of The Next Generation
We’re drifting back into Life In Arpeggio’s 15-Min Flash Mix, and we’ve now loaded up 40 episodes since its launch. For episode 40, we have a burgeoning beatpusher who’s part of a new and young generation of Gen-Z DJs living their moment in the post-pandemic renaissance.
Introducing Vix, a rising selector whose inspirations – like many scene kids – began in underground institutions like Headquarters and Tuff Club. Driven by her passion for techno, Vix would go on to hone her craft, evolving it from a bedroom hobby into a refined performance. Since picking up the decks, Vix has shown that she’s capable of commanding dancefloors at both intimate pop-ups and more heavy-duty shindigs, cutting her teeth at parties by Modal, Last Saturdays, and even prominent record label, Midnight Shift.
For her 15-Min Flash Mix, Vix fires a blistering, unforgiving rush that goes for the jugular. Echoing the modern techno sound of today, her mix is shaped by dystopian, eerie and foreboding edges, locked in a state of rhythmic disarray. Powered by chasm-forming kicks, potent acid lines, syncopated break blasts and looped ghetto vocals, this mix by Vix offers a jittery, atomic-level sensation that floors you with its shockwave. If this is what we can hope to expect from the next wave of DJs, the kids are definitely alright.
