For Episode 48 of Life In Arpeggio’s 15-Min Flash Mix, we’re proud to introduce howrøng, co-founder and resident DJ of the queer party collective, Bussy Temple. With their contributions to the scene, howrøng and the Bussy Temple crew have helped create even safer spaces for the queer community, looking out for the flourishing evolution of genders and identities.

Aside from Bussy Temple gatherings, howrøng has made recurring appearances and noteworthy strides in the gig circuit, having played at the techno-tuned stages of Thugshop and Modal as well as other queer techno promoters such as Miss Homo and XOXO. They’ve also spread the howrøng gospel regionally, hitting Southeast Asian underground venues like under9 in Malaysia, Arcan in Vietnam and Red Room in Myanmar.

In the 15-Min Flash Mix, howrøng bestows an offering that’s destructive and delicate all at once. Mangled pop teases with ambient swirls, haywire circuity synths and hellfire kicks, all tied with classical Asian instruments and cosmic spiritual guitars – howrøng truly tinkers with all sorts of sounds and elements from their nebulous repertoire. The mix explores light-footed heavy-hitting techno, muted breakcore, harsh electronica and other dizzying mish-mashes that toss out the rigidity of classification.

This isn’t a party mix. This is an experience.
