A chummy British vinyl connoisseur giving you unsolicited insider knowledge about his dearest vintage records while wiggling endearingly in a Hugh Hefner dressing gown – it’s hard to scroll away. The peculiar yet well-earned rise of Fish56Octagon is a social media success story, reflecting a trend of bedroom DJs clinching overnight fame due to the virality of their content. His hard-to-hate antics have not only turned him into an industry sensation, but a coveted booking opportunity for promoters all around the world. And that includes Singapore’s own Mandala Club and ArtBeyond.
Indeed, local promoters are not immune to the allure of social media DJs’ massive followings, and who could blame them really? Teaming up for this joint gig, scene fixtures Mandala Club and ArtBeyond jump on the glimmering hype of Fish56Octagon, catapulting his musical wisdom and infectious enthusiasm from the phone screens to the dancefloor.

Slated for 16 January on a Thursday, the co-organisers have announced that Fish56Octagon will be playing at an undisclosed location (only ticket holders will be privy to this info). He’ll be punching out a bottomless, decades-crossing catalogue that’s contributed to his fame – even catching the attention of major festivals like Glastonbury and Creamfields – with selections spanning acid house, speed garage and old-school rave music. Supporting him are trusty local veterans David Carollo and RAAJ, both seasoned aficionados who are equally scholarly in their sound.
