Perk up those posteriors and preen those tailfeathers. LGBTQ+ promoters FOMOHOMO have whipped out another goodie from its trunk, punctuating an already-studded portfolio spanning scene events and a platform showcasing queer events all over the city. Despite having a bountiful run last year, FOMOHOMO is already kicking off 2025 on a high with BUMBUM, a new initiative tailored to the “booty-bouncing bass baddies for all kinds of bum fun”. Yes, it’s naughty.

Like other FOMOHOMO jamborees, BUMBUM is a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community while still being hetero-friendly. The soundtracks of BUMBUM parties offer some low-end lovin’, slapping and smacking with bass-heavy genres like dancehall, bounce, Latin, grime, ghettotech and UKG; all tied together into the bumpy thread of techno and house to keep the floor energised. Combined with some “ballroom-inspired drama” or so it forewarns, and you have yourself a quintessential BUMBUM bash.

FOMOHOMO launches BUMBUM on 25 January at MDLR, firing the big guns with a motley crew of international and local decksters. For its mischievous inauguration, BUMBUM will be headlined by Zooey Gleaves AKA Lagoon, the first drag queen to curate and host a Boiler Room gig in London in 2022. As a DJ, Lagoon fuses global club sounds with pop culture for a potpourri of baile funk, jersey, dembow and amapiano. Also on the lineup is Lisbon’s own Ketia, activist and co-founder of trans-focused collective Kit Ket, and a delightfully capricious DJ who toys with genre-flipping sets. Joining them are Singaporean bum-shakers, Tashasan from North East Social Club and FOMOHOMO resident Loyboy, along with FOMOHOMO’s own “Pu$$y Fairies” Dineash and Nicki Aiko.

FOMOHOMO presents BUMBUM, 25 January 2024, 10pm-late, MDLR, 62 Cecil Street, Singapore 049710, get your tickets here. Follow FOMOHOMO and BUMBUM on socials for more information.
