Majulah Live: Zendyll & Collective Minds Unite To Amplify The Digital Gig Experience
The medium of live-streaming has evolved since it first surfaced, shape-shifting from a technological innovation of necessity to a format that’s refined and professionally executed. The team from Zendyll Music Agency is now rising to the challenge to provide a new tier of entertainment for the live-streaming platform, and those efforts are now culminating in Majulah Live. Dubbed “Singapore’s first high-quality digital concert experience”, this announcement arrives at a time when physical attendance at concerts is just beginning to reawaken. But while the scene crawls towards normalcy, Zendyll is going all out to craft an experience spectators have yet to see.
Streaming live from the Sands Theatre of Marina Bay Sands on 22 November, this multi-pronged feat is a collaboration with promoters, Collective Minds, and the National Youth Council that gives this event an official stamp of endorsement, a validating one-up for the local music scene. There will be plenty of music lined up from pop stalwarts such as Aisyah Aziz and Zendyll founder, Jon Chua JX (backed by SMSband), along with swiftly-climbing names, Estelle Fly from the Zendyll roster and Tengyboy who’s been coming in hot in the hip-hop circles.
For weeks, Zendyll’s been creating original content with the Majulah Weekender, where producers and vocalists pair up to compose exclusive, new material. At Majulah Live, you’ll be able to catch the alumni of this project as they reveal the fruits of their labour, with performances from BGourd, Hairi Eyes, Elsa Mickayla, Fauxe x Shye, and DSML x Jean Seizure.
One other surprise that Majulah Live has on its lineup is the introduction of comedy acts, offering entertainment that goes beyond the musical purview. To make this possible, Majulah Live introduces the Sons & Sister of Singapore Comedy Quartet – comprising Fakkah Fuzz, Rishi Budhrani, Jinx Yeo and Sharul Channa – with humorous antics in between sets.
To capture every detail of the show with sharp precision and industry-level professionalism, Majulah Live is using broadcast cameras at multiple angles to stream an intricate performance for all of you watching at home. With tickets at $18 (early bird) and $25 (general viewing), this will help cover the cost of the event while supporting all participating acts in these bruised and battered times.
“We would also like to help some of the entertainers and live performers whose incomes have taken a massive hit during the circuit breaker,” explains Alfred Castillo from Collective Minds. “Hopefully with Majulah Live, the industry can see that live-streaming is a viable alternative amidst social distancing.”
