Local Hotshot Toska Is Flying The Singapore Flag High On The Tomorrowland Lineup
Often we hear that prevailing narrative that Singaporean DJs can’t make it big on the global stage. But every now and then, naysayers are humbled by unexpected stories of success – just like the feel-good tale of Toska. Belgium’s mecca-status festival Tomorrowland has recently revealed its staggering international lineup, and believe it or not, you’ve got a Singaporean name in there. Toska announced his performance slot on the second weekend of Tomorrowland, and whether you’re into mass-appealing electronic music or not, you can’t brush off the historic significance of this big-time victory from a small-city protagonist.
If you can’t quite put your finger on how you’ve heard the name Toska, let us give you a recap. While still a young-un in the industry – he’s only been making music for three years – Toska drew the scene’s attention back in 2023 when he started throwing his own “Boiler Room-styled” parties, commoditising the renowned concept with his own spin. He would continue the hype with his Toska & Friends series, packing venues with genre-flipping programmes spanning electro house, EDM, jersey club and drum & bass. He’d also use these gigs as a launchpad for his own original productions, giving attendees a glimpse of this future star’s talent.
Following the career trajectories of other homegrown prodigies like Foxela and Myrne (who was the first Singaporean to play Tomorrowland in 2018), Toska possesses a production portfolio that’s impressive. From beastly bass-driven offerings to cuts of deep vocal house, Toska’s range of singles have also charted in Mexico and Portugal. The rising high-flier is also a graduate of the Martin Garrix JBL Music Academy – representing Singapore as one out of 20,000 applicants – where he worked with industry leaders in Amsterdam to sharpen his craft.
So keep tabs on this Singaporean export. Tomorrowland certainly is.
