yeule’s meteoric rise towards industry domination continues. The alternative Singapore export has been riding international waves with mega festival bookings and major label signings; more recently with their softscars album released last year on Ninja Tune. yeule’s in a pretty good place to be following a career first etched over a decade ago, and the results just keep on manifesting.

Now with another Ninja Tune offering, the former glitch princess opens a new chapter that starts with “eko”, a single co-produced by yeule and Chris Greatti (Yves Tumor, Willow Smith) and mastered by Singapore’s own Kin Leonn. It’s an optimistic ode to obsession; the idea of not shying away from it but embracing it. “All this time, always I find she's rotting, crystal, diamond, shining / Flying, finding, all your crying, trauma, shaking, shining, darling” yeule serenades mystically about the voice echoing in their cerebrum.

“eko” resumes yeule’s departure from their electronic origins, blowing away the experimental miasma to reveal a more iridescent offering that shimmers with poppy alt-rock sensibilities. With guitars playing second fiddle with hushed counter melodies, yeule’s vocals strike with clarity and purity, muddled with the occasional vocoder tweak and croaky filter. “eko” is engrossing and a pleasant pill to swallow, and it might just turn into your next ear-worming obsession.
