Baia Is A Rooftop Bar Atop The Esplanade Inspired By The Bacchanalias Of Ancient Rome

Our city’s obsession with Italian epicureanism knows no bounds, and you’ll often find this identity seeping into our nightlife destinations. Following this fascination is Baia, a new rooftop bar that adopts Italy as its muse, named after an ancient holiday resort near Naples that was adored by the Roman aristocracy. Turns out, the notion of letting one’s hair down is etched into antiquity, and Baia is honouring that tradition with its ascent.

Launched by ilLido Group (Southbridge, Amò), Baia undoubtedly makes a striking first impression with more than just its marble textures and abstract weathered murals, but its fortunate locale. Baia not only treats guests to views of Marina Bay, but it does so from its lofty rooftop perch atop The Esplanade, Singapore’s much-beloved art durian. It makes a swell sojourn following an indie gig or theatre performance, or simply a pre-party soak-up before the evening takes a rambunctious turn.

Should you choose to swing by Baia, it surely offers enough to imitate the hedonism historically savoured by the clientele it’s inspired by. But rather than traditional Italian bites, you have a raw bar – the likes of Hokkaido scallops, Hyogo oysters and wagyu beef tartare – with caviar accents, charcoal grill mains, ‘golden bites’ such as lobster lollipops and potato gems, and even some elevated pizza for good measure. Cocktails come thematically in the form of SOL, refreshing drinks inspired by bacchanals; and NOX, named after the Goddess of Night. And echoing the timeless recreation of music, Baia naturally ties up the indulgences with a roster of DJs spinning under the stars. So what say you? Are you not entertained?
