IGNITE! 2024: The Student-Run Music Festival Returns With A Scorching Lineup

What was your school life like? Cramming the textbooks, that’s a given. But being part of a major music festival? Now that’s some next-level campus experience. For Republic Polytechnic, IGNITE! Music Festival has been part of its DNA since 2008. It’s a steadfast history that’s enlivened its student body, stirring the young scene-discovering audiences who make up the mosh pit and the student-run organising committee taking dips into industry wisdom – just read our interview feature with the organisers here. And beyond this new generation of fans, IGNITE! has locked in a legacy of being one of Singapore’s longest-running music festivals dedicated to the live alternative circuit.

After taking a gap year in 2023, IGNITE! triumphantly returns for a two-day spectacle on 26 and 27 July. And following its annual tradition, the lineup presents a resounding ensemble of beloved bands and darling singer-songwriters. From nostalgia acts to head-turning newcomers, IGNITE! is turning up the heat.

Standouts include indie-pop pioneers Pleasantry, noise-rocking globe exports Subsonic Eye, busker-turned-sensation WHYLUCAS, bedroom pop startlet Shye, evocative shoegazers motifs, post-hardcore incendiaries Tell Lie Vision, and a Maker Records showcase featuring Bakers In Space, Bennett Bay and Ethel Yap. IGNITE! also carries on as a platform for undiscovered talents with its annual auditions, giving victors a potentially career-launching opportunity.
