Calling all goth ghouls, glitch witches, nightwalkers and darkstalkers, there’s a looming coven with your name on it. Blessed is a party scene that’s able to accommodate the nichest of subcultures without judgment, and in light of an ongoing zeitgeist of diversity lies the shadow of the dark alternative movement. Bubbling from the cauldron of this obscure yet zealous community is DARKSIN, an upcoming dark and alternative music festival that hopes to be an annual affair. Needless to say, an event like this is pretty rare, and you don’t wanna miss this communal conjuring.

Summoning the festivities at Phil Studio on 19 July, DARKSIN is brewing some mixed spellcraft in genres. In one enchanted evening, DARKSIN promises to showcase rock-rooted sounds like goth, post-punk, EBM and metal, as well as electronic disciplines like aggrotech, darkwave, futurepop and experimental noise. It’s the sort of soundtrack that will aid you getting in touch with your inner darkness, and unleashing your party creature with your fellow demons in the room.

Launching DARKSIN on the lineup is an assortment of DJs, bands and live musicians. Representing local blood is the dark synth carnage of Microchip Terror, the synth metal witchery of vylt, the extravagant symphonic metal of Sangriento, the alt-bass antics of T.HIRST, and the dark poetry noise experiments of Poetriot. And performing alongside them are some international additions, including aggrotech selector Katronyk, industrial hard-hitter Gnoedi, and the “depressing” gloom-and-doom sounds of Kabuki Kaiser who’s a stalwart of the French goth scene.

DARKSIN is beckoning. Will you answer?
