The Party Expo(sure): We’re Co-Hosting A Pop-Up Featuring Showcases From 17 Collectives

With every piece we churn out, we strive to inform audiences of the bottomless richness and diversity of our music scene. We’ve geeked out about the community’s wealth of party collectives peddling their various interpretations of left-field music transcending mainstream expectations. And we’ve uncovered the boundary-breaking resourcefulness of promoters orchestrating their party manoeuvres outside of the conventional club space. But now we’re going beyond the page to co-present an event that reinforces all of this. Together with the bedroom DJ crew and promoters of 5210PM and culture-chasers alt-gps (self-proclaimed as the “unofficial tourism board of Singapore”), Life In Arpeggio is launching The Party Expo(sure) – or T.P.E.

T.P.E is a pop-up activation happening at *SCAPE #02-02 from 6 July to 25 August. And as its name implies, its inception was formulated from a collective desire to provide a platform for exposure. Over the course of seven sessions across four weekends (between 6 July and 27 July), T.P.E will feature live showcases from 17 distinctive collectives. Performing in a customised booth setup, each collective and its representative DJs will have an opportunity to exhibit their signature sounds – whether it’s the worldly grooves of Tropika, the jungle blitzes of Revision Music, the goth crusades of Blacklight Tribe, the bassy assaults of Syndicate, or the intoxicating techno of Thugshop. We’ve even got our own Life In Arpeggio showcase featuring fresh torchbearers Free Market Club and Four Teh.
Each session will be recorded live and published as an AI-enhanced video engineered by alt-gps, but everyone is welcome to rock up and chill out and get up-close to your favourite DJs. Think of it as an intimate boogie-bonding session and an educational experience rather than your average party. Besides, all these sessions start early so they make a perfect warm-up for your late-night shenanigans. Plus did we mention entry is absolutely free? One more time with conviction… FREE!
The goal here is to inspire and edify audiences who yearn for a deeper context of the scene. That’s why aside from the performance programming, we’ve lined up a series of fringe events and activities that’s open to everyone. Life In Arpeggio will be facilitating a panel discussion titled “SOS State: How can we sustain our local party scene” featuring respected thought-leaders in the industry. alt-gps will be unveiling a Music Personality Generator where participants can match their characteristics to recommended genres and collectives. Aside from their own showcase, 5210PM is hosting a bring-your-own-record vinyl listening session. And for aspiring decksters, T.P.E is also having a first-come-first-served DJ workshop coached by Nez Senja. We’ve got lots in store and who knows, we might add more surprises along the way.
Who is T.P.E for? It’s for those of you who are willing to open your mind and traverse further into our party ecosystem. Perhaps you’d like to discover more. Maybe you have friends who need a nudge from patronising the commercial clubs all the time. Maybe you’re new to Singapore, or you’re already a dedicated zealot of this scene you call home. Everyone’s invited for a little exposure. You can’t have too much of it, yeah?
