Music For Meals: This 8-Hour Live-Stream Is Raising Food Funds For The Needy

As we get sloshed and stuff our faces this Christmas, let’s not forget that ’tis also a season of giving and kindness. Through the power of music once more, The Food Bank Singapore is organising another online fundraiser event, dedicated to the provision of meals for less fortunate families and individuals.

In case this rings a bell, you’re not mistaken. The charity organisation organised a couple of live-streams last year with similar philanthropic goals, collaborating then with Blackout Agency. For this edition, it’s teaming up with cocktail bar, ROXY, and the promoters behind Therapy Room. An uninterrupted eight-hour live-stream is what they have planned for 30 December (11am-7pm), featuring a super squad of industry heavyweights including Aldrin, KFC, Adrian Wee, Ollie’ Des, Brendon P, Joshua P and Ulysses. From swinging disco to hammering house, you’re in for an upbeat soundtrack that will chase away the impending melancholia of 2022.

You, however, can make the lives of others less gloomy right now. Through the live-stream on Twitch, you can make donations of $10 (five meals), $20 (10 meals), $50 (meals for two weeks), $100 (meals for a month) or any amount you prefer. No amount is too small, and no gesture is too frivolous. Last year, The Food Bank Singapore redistributed 1.6 million kilogrammes of food to the needy, and it hopes to eliminate food insecurity in Singapore by 2025.
